Who doesn’t love a South African braai? And who doesn’t love a beautiful wine estate? Then you will love Middelvlei Wine Estate. They are known for their ‘boerebraai’ restaurant, or ‘farmers barbecue’ if you will.
With a farmhouse behind you, cows grazing in the distance, and a resident lamb that roams (or rather leaps) between the tables, it is not hard to see why Middelvlei Wine Estate is so popular with foreigners and locals alike.
The Boerebraai Restaurant offers an authentic South African lunch, a braai. Their resident braai expert will prepare your chops, boerewors and chicken sosaties to perfection. And if that is not enough, the aromas of freshly made ‘pot brood’ and ‘braaibroodjies’ certainly whet the appetite. While Ben's homemade pâté and Ouma Annie's pumpkin fritters are truly delicious and add that little extra to your meal. Paired it with their wines and you will be in for a treat!
But what seems to draw the most visitors to Middelvlei is their famous ‘braaibroodjie’ and wine pairing. It is so unusual and yet so South African. Flavors are bold and tasty, from snoek & cream cheese, boerewors & mozzarella, and creamy brie & sun-dried fig; which will be your favorite? Book in advance to find out and to avoid disappointment.
Do not fret though mamma. Your little ones are sorted too with their own fun filled box. It comes complete with a form on how tasting works in a kid friendly explanation, plus some yummy treats for their little tummies.
Honestly though, it is so beautiful here, that you can literally sit there all day, soaking up the sunshine while the kids enjoy the freedom that only being outdoors can bring.
